Acceptable Use Policy

1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets forth the rules and guidelines for using Kearny Self Storage facilities and services. By using our services, you agree to comply with this Policy. Violation of this Policy may result in termination of your rental agreement and denial of access to our facilities.
2. General Rules
- You must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances
- You must respect the rights of other customers and our staff
- You must maintain the security and cleanliness of your storage unit
- You must follow all posted signs and instructions
- You must not interfere with the operation of our facility
3. Prohibited Uses
3.1 Prohibited Items
You may NOT store the following items in your storage unit:
- Flammable, explosive, or combustible materials (gasoline, propane, fireworks, etc.)
- Hazardous or toxic substances (chemicals, pesticides, asbestos, etc.)
- Perishable food items or items that attract pests
- Live animals, plants, or any living organisms
- Illegal items, contraband, or stolen property
- Firearms, ammunition, or weapons (unless legally permitted and properly stored)
- Items that produce odors, fumes, or vapors
- Items with a value exceeding insurance limits without proper documentation
- Vehicles that are not properly registered and insured
- Items that require special environmental controls
3.2 Prohibited Activities
You may NOT engage in the following activities:
- Using the storage unit as a residence or living space
- Operating a business from the storage unit
- Conducting any illegal activities
- Tampering with security systems, locks, or facility equipment
- Allowing unauthorized persons to access your unit
- Storing items that belong to others without proper authorization
- Creating excessive noise or disturbances
- Damaging facility property or other customers' property
- Smoking, using open flames, or creating fire hazards
- Dumping trash or waste in common areas
4. Access and Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your access codes, keys, and locks
- Do not share your access codes or keys with unauthorized persons
- Report lost or stolen keys or access codes immediately
- You must use your own high-quality lock on your storage unit
- Do not block access to other units or common areas
- Follow all facility access hours and restrictions
5. Unit Maintenance
- Keep your unit clean and free of debris
- Do not store items in a manner that blocks ventilation or creates safety hazards
- Do not modify, damage, or alter the storage unit in any way
- Report any damage to the unit or facility immediately
- Remove all items and clean the unit upon termination of your rental
6. Vehicle and Equipment Use
- Drive safely and observe speed limits on facility property
- Park only in designated areas
- Do not leave vehicles unattended in loading areas
- Do not perform vehicle maintenance or repairs on facility property
- Ensure all vehicles are properly registered and insured
7. Environmental and Safety Requirements
- Do not store items that require refrigeration, freezing, or climate control unless your unit is specifically designed for such items
- Do not store items that may leak, spill, or contaminate
- Properly package and label all stored items
- Do not store items that may attract pests or vermin
- Comply with all environmental regulations and disposal requirements
8. Insurance and Liability
- You are responsible for maintaining adequate insurance coverage for your stored items
- We are not responsible for loss or damage to your stored property
- You must notify us immediately of any damage or loss
- You are liable for any damage caused by your stored items to the facility or other customers' property
9. Violations and Enforcement
Violation of this Policy may result in:
- Immediate denial of access to your unit
- Termination of your rental agreement
- Removal of prohibited items at your expense
- Legal action and prosecution if applicable
- Charges for damages, cleanup, or disposal
10. Right to Inspect
We reserve the right to inspect storage units at any time for compliance with this Policy, safety concerns, or as required by law. We will provide reasonable notice when possible, except in emergency situations.
11. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. We will notify you of any material changes. Your continued use of our services after such notification constitutes acceptance of the modified Policy.
